Holidays .... taking time out  2017#7 - famiglia

Someone (a very dear friend, who I think is a very wise woman) made a comment to me recently along the lines of "..... there is nothing more grounding than going back to your roots. It makes life look completely different when you get home and start making decisions." How true this is.

I often say you can't deny DNA. As I chatted, connected and shared stories with family in Lucca over the last few days, I was struck with the familiarity of so many family traits. Curly thick hair, the way the males all have a restless mobility as they pace around, the blue eyes, gestures and sounds all so similar and familiar.

Over the last few years the next generation of babies in our family are being born and as we all comment on "doesn't bubba look like so & so", the one DNA thread that is common to all, is the Cerasa genes.

It has been such a calming and introspective time hanging out in Lucca and connecting with the 'famiglia'. It does make me ponder the decision that my father made more than 6 decades ago,  to leave Lucca and as they say - 'the rest is history'.

The magic side of all this meeting of the family is that this has all been helped by Facebook and google translator. My cousin's daughter and I became Facebook friends and now, here I am, hanging out with her over the last 5 days.

Could I live here?
