Not quite the plan…Salmon and egg pie

8/4/2015

Lately there seems to be a lot of days not quite going to what/how I had planned.  Are the goddesses preparing me for something?

So last Sunday was all planned – lots of ideas to write, garden, plan a couple of upcoming events and to sort out some cupboards. Wandered out to the kitchen to grab a “heart starter” (coffee) and noticed a pool of red liquid near the pantry.  “Oh dear, what can the matter be?” I thought to self.

My investigations soon discovered the freezer had defrosted overnight and the pool of liquid was actually juices from packets of berries (redcurrants, blackberries, raspberries etc).  All seven drawers of the freezer were defrosted and ready to be cooked!!!

So nine hours later I managed to salvage more than 80% of the produce in the freezer and had cooked up quite a few food parcels. There was no time for planning or deciding on recipes – I made it up as I went along. A friend had been telling me, a few days earlier, that she had cooked her traditional salmon pie for Easter and it inspired me.

Quite easy!
I was also very grateful that there were a few friends around who were happy to help out and take some of the food parcels from me!!

Gardens…mother nature never fails to inspire me

There have been a few mentions of Mother Nature in previous posts, yet again; I am inspired by her magic.

I love all the seasons and they always have me ooohing and aaahing. However, Autumn seems to particularly capture my imagination so much. It is almost like the colours change while you stand there and watch the leaves. The grape vine over the alfresco area at PCH is turning on its colour show and flirts with me morning,  noon and night. I love that space!

Then I saw this and was so in awe!

Autumn has arrived in Walhalla! ‪#‎inspiredbygippsland ‪#‎visitgippsland.

Friends…anywhere in the world

There is a young woman named Sara Jayne who I have enormous admiration and respect for. Her lust for life is magnificent. She has a friend called Mel...I am sure if the goddesses think it fit to do so, I will meet her one day also. If she is a #galpal of Sara Jayne, she will also be awesome.

By virtue of this wondrous thing called Social Media, Mel tagged Sara Jayne in a post, so I got to see this quote; "You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.”  (Miriam Adeney)

It hit deep into my reflections. Probably, for numerous and varied  reasons.

March has been a particularly BIG month with births, birthdays, weddings, funerals, work, extended family and living. Lots of me invested in lots of conversations…at one point I drove approximately 1,400 KMs in 48 hours to be where I needed to be. When I finally arrived back at PCH after one very full week, the garden greeted me with its magic, as it is starting to turn on its incredible autumnal colours. Max and Connie “smiling” at me as the car rolled to a stop in the garage. Tezza standing at the back door with a big grin and hug to welcome me home.

Other reflections and thinking were influenced by numerous world and local events. They caused me such dismay and I do not comprehend the violence, hatred and corruption that occurred. It distresses me. Can’t find the words to express these feelings. I just don’t get it.

Then I started to think about the extended network of people I know around the world and apparently some of you are Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Lutherans, no-religion or even Astrologers! (:-) ) YOU KNOW WHAT? – none of that matters to me. It is the person that I love, care for or feel happy about. It is not your religion that attracts me to our friendship or relationship or love. It is your being, your heart, your soul that links me to you.

So, if I am fortunate enough to know you and we have a great relationship, I want you to know that your presence in my extended circle is valued ‘cos of LOVE…nothing more, nothing less - it is not about your ethnic heritage, religion or work. It is because we have connected and I am glad we have. X
