Holidays .... taking time out  2017#3 - wedding

This post is very much about love. No apologies for that and if you don't like the concept of love, maybe it is best for you to look away....now.

When my #galpal, Jackie told me she was getting married I was very excited. I do get very excited about things - some even say over the top excited .... Allora .... it is what it is.

Jackie and Peter had met and became friends and the respect and companionship they felt grew into a deep love that confirmed they wanted to be each other's chosen life partner. Yes, they decided they wanted to be married and commit to each other.

I was present at the birth of her two sons some years ago. Her two sons were part of my wedding group. You can see there is a lot of connection here and #galpal memories. With such a special event, I could not see any other way, except that I would be attending.

Jackie was thrilled that I said I wanted to be there and it seemed logical that I would be the celebrant to officiate their commitment ceremony. Then the bombshell .... "umm, Deb we want to have our ceremony in Positano", she shared with me. It seemed like forever for the  nanosecond of reflection for me to say - "don't care where, I will be there!"

Two days after arriving in the spectacular town of Positano, on a terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, a small group of us joined Jackie and Peter as they made their life commitment to each other. And I officiated with a unique and special ceremony that was written to reflect perfectly what Jackie and Peter's love was about. WOW. To say it was romantic, emotional, beautiful and heartfelt is probably a little understated.  The most tangible aspect of being in that moment for me, was the intensiveness and palpable happy that was emanating from them both. Happy laughter, happy emotion, happy tears and happy energy all around us in that perfect dream like setting.

Even the Italians standing by watching, were hooting and crying with us !

Following bubbles and cake we strolled down Via Cristoforo Colombo, took a left turn at Piazza dei Mulini and made our way to a  picturesque garden terrace restaurant for the wedding lunch. Taking that stroll with Jackie looking truly splendid, Peter dashing in his Italian cloth and the other of us definitely with our glamour on display, we mixed it up with a kaleidoscope of tourists and locals. Walking through bikini clad beach-goers, tourists in all sorts of traveling costumes, local Italians dressed comfortable and appropriately for the hot weather and us strutting our party finery.

It is hard for me to describe how stunning Jackie looked - maybe the photo of her strolling down the street creates the image ...

After a delicious meal we moved to another terrace and sipped mojitos for refreshment, laughed about life and generally just had a great time. The walk back to our hotel did require some change of footwear.  By the end of a long hot afternoon, it was time for feet to be more comfy in Havanas and Birkenstocks. Back on the terrace of our room we sipped Gin and Tonics, watched  the magic of Positano light up as dusk turned to evening. *sigh*

What a wonderful event to be involved in. What a privilege to be able to share yet another life event with one of my besties and to finish the night sitting on the terrace holding hands with my TezzaEd.

I love weddings, celebrations and ceremonies - do you? What is your most  memorable celebration ?
